...As Council tours Colleges of Education, Agriculture and Health Sciences
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Mallam Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, has heaped praises on management and staff of the University for their commitment to their duties in the face of the protracted strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) currently plaguing public universities in the nation.

He echoed this appreciation in his separate addresses on Monday, 29th August, 2022, at the Colleges of Education in Ipetu-Ijesha, Agriculture in Ejigbo, and Health Sciences in Isale Osun, when Principal Officers and other officials of the University accompanied some members of the Governing Council on an inspection visit to the three Colleges.
Speaking to the Provosts and staff of the three colleges, the Pro-Chancellor said "I must appreciate members of staff of this University for manning their respective posts in spite of the name-calling and stigmatization by other people. Never think for a second that this Governing Council does not appreciate what you are doing. Sometimes it pains us that we cannot do more to make your jobs easier. In the last Council meeting, just as a token of our appreciation, we endorsed the payment of about eight hundred million naira (N800,000,000) to you as earned allowances, but it was decided that the money would be paid in tranches due to paucity of funds."
"On behalf of Council, I appreciate your sacrifices, loyalty, and efforts towards the students committed to your care, and I can tell you that posterity and history are on your side for keeping the University open in spite of all odds. I want to appeal to your sense of duty to trudge on in your commitment to your jobs. I strongly believe that University staff should be paid more than you are currently earning, and I can assure you that we are working to make this University a model in terms of labour and wages. If the owners of the University would agree with us and I pray they do, you are likely to become the best earning workers in any University in Nigeria very soon if it works out the way we are planning it," the Pro-Chancellor added.
The Provost of the College of Education, Professor Florence Yusuf; Provost of the College of Agriculture, Professor Patience Fakolade and Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Professor Christopher Alebiosu in their respective replies echoed their appreciation to the Governing Council and Management for the support given to the development of their Colleges.
During the course of inspecting facilities at the Colleges, the delegation visited ongoing project sites. At the College of Education, the following facilities were inspected: TETFund classroom building, which was already completed; the College Library and the Science Laboratory Complex, which was commissioned during the last convocation ceremony. At the College of Agriculture, the delegation inspected the Library Complex, which is under rehabilitation; TETFund faculty building and TETFund classroom building, both still under construction; farms unit and the College Office complex.
